Il y a deux semaines nous sommes montés à Snowbird pour voir les étoiles et juste là, il y avait une élan très content et sans souci d'être à côté de nous. Adrien a beaucoup aimé regarder dans les télescopes et voir la lune et les galaxies mais c'était vraiment impossible de prendre des photos dans le noir complet.

We went stargazing at Snowbird a couple of week ends ago and right there was an moose very contempt and not even carrying about us. Adrien loved looking at the telescopes and seeing the moon and galaxies, but it's was really impossible to take any pictures in the total darkness.

L'été est passé trop vite et nous n'avons pu profiter que d'une semaine de vacances sans papa car il devait travailler. Mais la semaine a été super. Nous avons vu la cousine d'Adrien à New York et les deux enfants se sont amusés comme des fous au manège et dans les parcs. Ensuite, nous sommes allés quelques jours à la plage chez des amis. Adrien s'est amusé comme un fou à courir partout, à grimper, à nager, pêcher, trouver des curiosités en bord de mer, à lancer des choses dans l'eau. Il a joué avec une Jeep pour enfants et ensuite nous sommes montés dans une vraie Jeep. Il a sauté dans l'eau chaude du bord d'un pédalo, mangé de la glace et la liste continue. Nous avons eu une semaine très sympathique dommage que tout celà soit si court. Sans compter l'excitation de prendre l'avion et le train!

It has been a busy summer and I am just catching up with everything. We enjoyed a fun week back east where we spend a few days off enjoying friends and family. What a blast for the 2 of us while daddy was working hard. Adrien had some great fun with his cousin on rides and in the play parks. Then at the beach with his friends running around, climbing, swimming, fishing, finding things at the beach, throwing things in the sea, riding the play Jeep then the real Jeep. Jumping in the warm waters from the pedal boat, eating ice cream, and the list goes on. We had such a wonderful time it was way too short. And that's not counting the excitement of taking the plane and the train!

Jacques Cousteau

Adrien ADORE regarder le film de Jacques Cousteau que nous avons. Bien que nous n'aimions pas les techniques de pêche et les expériences des années 70, Adrien apprend toute sorte de choses. Ce soir, après le bain, il m'a dit: "Maman, les dauphins ne sont pas des poissons mais des ''mammaires'' (mammiféres) qui se rapprochent des chiens" Wow je suis impressionnée !!

Adrien LOVES watching the Jacques Cousteau movie we have. Although we don't really agree with the 70's fishing techniques and experiments he's been learning all kids of information. And tonight after the bath he tells me: Mom, dolphins are not fishes they are mamals closer to dogs." WOW I am so impressed!

Thomas the train

Une autre activité que nous avons faite lors de la visite de Grand Papa était d'aller à Herber City pour rencontrer Thomas la petite locomotive. Adrien était très excité mais on ne pouvait pas monter dessus donc il était un peu déçu. Nous avons tout de même pris le petit train pour un tour dans la campagne et ça, c'était excitant. Le contrôleur est même passé remettre aux enfants un certificat, une vraie merveille de marketing. Adrien a une photo de lui devant Thomas et il m'a demandé de la mettre au-dessus de son lit comme ça il peut la regarder tous les matins et tous les soirs.

Another activity we did while Grand Papa was visiting is we drove up to Heber City to see Thomas the train. Adrien was very excited to meet him but there was no climbing on Thomas so that was disappointing. We took the train for a little ride in the country side and he was very exited about that. The controller came through and handed a certificate for the kids, a real marketing marvel for sure. Adrien has now a picture of him and Thomas that he requested I put over his bed so he can see it everyday night and day.

Musée des Trains (Train Museum)

Adrien a une passion absolue pour les trains. Il commence à connaître de mieux en mieux les noms des parties des trains et les noms des différents wagons. Les trois dernières semaines il n'a pas cessé de pleuvoir sauf pendant deux jours. Nous l'avons alors emmené au Musée des trains à Odgen (une heure nord de SLC). Dès que nous sommes arrivés il répétait :Je suis content, je suis content, je suis content.... Quel endroit incroyable pour lui, il a pu monter sur toutes sortes de locomotives et wagons et explorer de près toutes les parties de ces monstres metalliques. Il y avait aussi dans le musée même, tout un circuit de trains miniatures qui representait les parcours de ces derniers dans les montagnes de l' ouest. Adrien était aux anges. Nous savons déjà que nous y retournerons car quitter le musée a été un vrai déchirement pour lui :nous n'avions jamais vu ça avant.

Adrien has an absolute passion for trains. He is starting to know all the parts of the train and the different type of train cars and so on. For the past 3 weeks we've had non stop rain but 2 days, so we drove up to Ogden on one of those days to the train museum. As soon as we got there Adrien was repeating " I am happy, I am happy, I am happy...". What an amazing place, he got to climb on every type of engine and cars and explore the ins and out of those amazing metal monsters. They also had a model train set that represent the train tracks in the Rockies with so many types of trains and terrains recreated in miniature, it was pure happiness for him. We will have to bring him back for sure leaving the museum was extremely hard for him like we'd never seen before.

Spectacle (Performance)

La visite de Grand Papa tombe bien car Adrien avait son premier spectacle avec sa nouvelle école la semaine dernière. Il n'a pas très bien compris ce qui se passait et n'osait pas trop bouger sur scène mais il était trop chou. Sur la vidéo il est à l'extrémité à droite sur la scène. On a bien ri et depuis il adore parler de son spectacle.

Grand Pa's visit came at the right time as Adrien had his first performance with his new school last week. He didn't fully understand what was going on and was pretty much frozen on stage but he was so cute. On the video you can see him on the far right on the stage. We had a good laugh and since he loves talking about going to a performance.

Chasse aux oeufs

Nous avons eu un week end bien rempli avec deux chasses aux oeufs. Adrien a bien compris le concept et s'est amusé comme un fou. Le temps était de notre côté aussi car pas de pluie et pas trop froid. Le meilleur bien sûr était de manger tous ces oeufs en chocolat!

We had a great week end with 2 egg hunts planned. Adrien really got it this year and had a ton of fun looking for the eggs. The weather was on our side no rain and not too cold. The best part now is to eat all those chocolate eggs!

3 ans!

3 ans déjà! Nous avons eu la visite de tantes et cousine ce week-end et nous n'avons pas arrêté. Samedi nous avons fêté l'anniversaire d'Adrien entre amis proches et ce fut un vrai succès. Adrien, cette année, a adoré souffler les bougies et chanter. Il a été couvert de cadeaux et ne savait plus avec quoi jouer tellement ils étaient tous extraordinaires. Et le gâteau, même pas une miette n'est restée!

Can you believe Adrien is already 3! We has such a fun and busy week end. We had aunts and cousin visiting and we threw a little party with close friends it was such a great success. Adrien got spoiled with gifts and didn't know witch one to play with as their were all such a success. And the cake was all gone at the end of the day not even a crumb left!

Un ami nous a emmenés dans son Cat le week end dernier. Ça nous a tous bien plu, on a beaucoup appris sur le coût d'utilisation et comment le travail est fait. Adrien s'est bien amusé, il a adoré appuyer sur les boutons des différentes alarmes. Tom et moi avons même conduit l'appareil :c'est bien différent d'une voiture!

Our friend took us in his Cat last week end. It was so fun and we learned so much between how much they cost to run to how the job is done. Adrien had a great time too, he loved playing with the different alarm buttons and observing everything. Tom and I even got a lesson on how to drive it much different than the car for sure.

PIZZA!

Nous avons acheté un petit escabeau pour qu'Adrien puisse mieux voir ce qui se passe sur le comptoir de la cuisine. Il nous aide maintenant à préparer le diner quand ça l'intéresse, surtout pour les pizzas! Ce soir là nous avions une petite amie à la maison que vous pouvez voir en arrière plan.

We got Adrien a little stool for the kitchen so he can see what is going on up on the counter. He can now help us cook which is really fun. His favorite pizza for sure. That night we were watching a friends little girl which you can see in the background.

Ski

Voilà une petite récapitulation des progrès d'Adrien à ski: nous avons commencé par de belles journées ensoleillées et lorsqu'il nous montrait de l'intéret à la maison. Nous l'avons emmené sur le tapis magique (tapis roulant) pour commencer et tout était bien bien.... Mais il a vite voulu aller sur le télésiège et là plus rien à faire, il n'a qu'une envie de descendre vite pour remonter: ça, c'est du sérieux donc nous lui louons des skis et des bottes.

Here is a little recap of Adrien ski progress. We started on sunday days with his little plastic skis after he shows lots of interest in the house. We brought him to the magic carpet where it is flat and simple. Then he got a taste of the lift and there is was hooked. He never wants to go back on the magic carpet, all he wants is go ski down the run to the lift and back up. Now that's more serious we are are now renting him the real thing boots and skis.

Nous sommes allés faire de la luge. Adrien avait froid aux mains donc je lui ai passé mes gants. C'est pour ça qu'il a l'air d'avoir des mains énormes. Mais vraiment, ce qu'il a préféré c'est de pousser son père et sa mère en bas de la colline!

We went sledding the other day. Adrien had cold hands so I gave him my gloves that's why his hands appear so big. But really what he enjoyed the most is pushing his Mom and Dad down the hill!

Joyeuses Fêtes (Happy Holidays)

Noël et le Nouvel An sont déjà passés. Tout était bien calme et nous en avons profité. Adrien a adoré découvrir tous les cadeaux mais il n'a pas compris que c'était le Père Noël ! il pense que c'est Jeni, une de ses nanies à la crèche, qui a tout apporté. Ceci dit, dès que Thomas le train est arrivé il n'avait d'yeux que pour lui. Adrien a été gâté, avec un grand quilt fait par Mamie Tina pour son lit et une robe en serviette de bain pour la piscine, des livres, des jeux et des rails! Merci Père Noël et bonne année à tous!

Can't believe christmas and new year have already gone by. All was mellow et we enjoyed it. Adrien loved discovering the gifts under the trees but he didn't understand that they were from Santa, he thought they were all from Jeni, his beloved care giver at day care. As soon as Thomas the train arrived he had only eyes for it. Adrien was spoiled with a big quilt grand ma Tina made for him, and a great terri cloth robe for the pool, books, games and rails. Thank you Santa and happy new year to all!

Busy busy

Nous avons été tellement occupés que je n'ai pas eu le temps de mettre le blog à jour. Nous avons eu des amis de passage: Isaha et Adrien se sont bien amusés à jouer au golf. Nous avons eu notre groupe de lecture au théatre où nous avons assisté à "Si tu donnes un biscuit à une souris" . Après le spectacle, les enfants pouvaient venir sur scène pour explorer: c'était très sympa. Nous avons enfin installé l'arbre de noel le week end dernier et nous sommes simplement contents d'avoir quelques jours de répit.

We've been so busy I haven't had a chance to update the blog. We had friends visiting, Isaha and Adrien had fun playing golf together. We had our reading group at the theatre and saw "if you give a mousse a cookie", after the show the kids could go explore the set, it was really fun. We finally put the christmas tree up last week end and we've just been looking forward to a few days off.

Thanksgiving

Nous nous sommes bien amusés pendant Thanksgiving. Nous avons fait de la luge et du ski avec Tante Wendy. Nous sommes aussi allés à la piscine. Mamie Tina pouvait entendre Adrien crier de joie derrière les vitres. Quelques nuits de suite, Adrien s'est endormi à table. Merci pour tous ces rires de joie.

We had lots of fun for Thanksgiving. We went sledding and skiing with aunty Wendy, altho the magic carpet was close we tried to make the most of it. We also went to the pool and Grand Tina could hear Adrien squealing of excitement through the windows. A few nights he just crashed on his diner. Thank you for all the great laughs.

Snowbird

Nous sommes allés à Snowbird ce week end pour prendre nos tickets pour la saison. C'était le moment idéal pour réintroduire l'idée du ski à Adrien. Tickets en main , nous avons pris la cabine jusqu'en haut de la montagne pour un petit tour ''panorama''. Il y avait beaucoup de brouillard et de vent mais Adrien a tout de même bien aimé. Il nous demandait ou étaient ses skis. Il n'y a que quelques pistes ouvertes jusqu'à maintenant, mais la prochaine fois nous aurons les skis en mains.

We went up to Snowbird this week end to pick up our passes. It was a great way to get Adrien in the idea of skiing again. We got our passes then took the tram up the mountain for a scenic view. It was very cloudy and windy. Only a couple of runs are open so far, but Adrien kept asking about his skis so we'l be taking them up with us next time.

Le vendredi avant Halloween, Adrien devait mettre son déguisement à l'école pour une journée festive. Il était tellement excité qu'il l'a gardé sur lui toute la journée. Les institutrices m'ont dit qu'il a adoré être maquillé et qu'il a demandé à être retouché l'après midi parce que tout était déjà effacé. Ceci dit, samedi il en avait tellement assez qu'il n'a plus voulu remettre son déguisement. Nous avions une présentation sur Halloween lors de notre groupe de lecture de français mais il était trop heureux de son t-shirt de monstre que sa tante Wendy lui avait envoyé: alors nous avons prêté le dragon à une amie.

The Friday before Adrien had to be dressed up for a party at school. He was so exited he kept his costume all day and loved the face painting. The teachers told me that he asked to have it reapplied in the afternoon because it had faded. But by Saturday he was so over it that he never put it back on. We had a special Halloween presentation at our French reading group and he was perfectly happy with the monster t-shirt Aunty Wendy send him, so we landed the dragon to a friend.

Halloween commence (Halloween has started)

Il y a plein d'activités en ce moment pour les enfants. Cette année nous avons décidé d'emmener Adrien à Red Butte Garden. C'était super, on a fait une potion magique et Adrien a rempli une petite pipette en verre d'herbe et graine le tout a été baigné dans une marmite spéciale. Puis nous sommes allés construire une lanterne et nous l'avons lancée sur l'étang. Nous nous sommes perdus dans un labyrinthe qui nous a amenés à peindre des petites poupées d'Australie et jouets avec des instruments de musique comme une petite grenouille dont on frotte le dos qu'Adrien a adoré. Et nous avons terminé par dessiner des masques et courir dans le ventre d'un serpent fait de vigne. Un grand succès pour notre petit dragon rouge.

There are a ton of halloween activities for the children right now so we decided to go to Red Butte Garden this year. There was a potion making tent where we stuffed little glass jars with different flowers and seeds all finished by a special magical brew. Then we moved on to building a lantern and sending it off to float in the pound. We got lost in the maze and finally got to painting little Mimi dolls from Australia and playing some fun instruments like this frog on which you rub the back of. And we finished off painting masks and running through the belly of a snake build of wines. Such a good starts for our little red dragon.

Il y a deux semaines nous avons eu la visite de nos amis de Denver que nous étions allés voir en juin. Les garçons se sont bien amusés au musée de l'aviation, dans le jardin ou à la maison à construire des ponts pour leurs trains.

Two week ends ago we had friends visiting from Denver, he same friends we went to visit in June. The boys had fun visiting the air force museum and just playing in the yard, building bridges and tunnel for their trains.

Aquarium

Le week end dernier, Adrien était invité à un anniversaire à l'aquarium. Les enfants se sont tellement bien amusés et nous étions vraiment bien surpris par sa beauté :quand on pense que nous sommes si loin de la mer! Je me demande si un jour un requin aurait rêvé de vivre à 1317 mètres au-dessus des mers. En tout cas , caresser les raies mantas était ce qu'a préféré Adrien.

Last week end Adrien was invited to a birthday party at the aquarium. The kids had so much fun, and we were really surprised how nice it is from been so far away from the sea. I wonder if a shark ever thought he would be living 4320 feet above see level. Hands down the petting of the Manaray was his favorite.

Nous sommes de retour à SLC et revenons au train train quotidien. Le voyage en France s'est très bien passé. Adrien s'est amusé comme un fou et a bien profité de Grand Maman et Grand Papa. Il a fait d'incroyables progrès en français et a grandi car plus aucun de ses pantalons ne lui vont. Voici quelques photos comme preuve.

We are back and getting in the swing of things. The trip to France was a great success. Adrien had lots of fun and quality time with Grand Maman et Grand Papa. His french has improved amazingly and he grew so much that once home none of his pants fit anymore. The pictures will speak for themselves.

Notre petit rituel cet l'été a été d'amener Adrien à la grande piscine une fois par semaine. Il adore et découvre de nouvelles possibilités à chaque visite. Il saute du bord de la piscine tout seul maintenant. Et sa dernière étape était de descendre du toboggan tout seul avec un de nous pour le rattraper à la fin. Il regarde le plongeoir avec grand intéret, je me demande quand cela aura lieu.

Our summer ritual has been to take Adrien to the big pool once a week. He loves it and seems to discover new abilities each time we go. He jumps from the edge of the pool all alone now. And his latest step was going down the slide solo with one of us catching him at the bottom. He is eyeing the diving board too, wonder when that's going to happen

Camping

Ce week end nous avons débranché tout et sommes allés camper avec des amis. À 45 minutes de la maison nous nous sommes retrouvés à Albion bassin tout en haut de Alta. Adrien s'est tellement amusé à voir les animaux, les oiseaux, les plantes et à simplement jouer dans la nature. La vue de la tente était extraordinaire. Après le petit déjeuner Tom est parti faire du vélo pendant que nous explorions les environs. Déjeuner puis nous avons fait une bonne sieste sous les pins. Ensuite nous sommes tous allés faire une grande ballade jusqu'au lac Catherine. Sur le chemin nous avons chanté et bien tout observé. Une fois au sommet Adrien a voulu marcher jusqu'au lac. Sur le chemin du retour une petite fée lui déposait des surprises. Quel plaisir de le voir chercher et anticiper. Nous avons fini la journée autour du feu avec Adrien affalé dans nos bras. Une expérience à réfaire sans aucun doute.

This week end we un-pluged and went camping with friends. We drove to Albion basin which is the top of Alta, basically 45 minutes from our house. What an amazing 2 days it was. Adrien had so much fun exploring, watching animals, birds, plants and just playing with dirt, streams, sticks and stones. The view from the tent was amazing. After breakfast Tom went biking while we explored the surroundings. After lunch we took a great nap under the pine trees. We then set up and went for a hike up to Catherine's lake. We sang and observed the whole way up once at the top of the pass Adrien insisted on walking down to the lake. On the way back a little fairy was leaving surprised along the way, what a delight to watch him anticipate and look around. We finished the day around the fire and Adrien crashed in our arms. Definitely an experience to repeat.

POLO

Grace à Tante Tracy, nous avons un nouveau personnage dans la maison. Il s'appelle Polo. Adrien adore les aventures de Polo. La semaine dernière au grand bonheur d'Adrien nous avons mangé des brochettes comme Polo! Allez voir son site (http://www.chezpolo.com/) il est plein de jeux et de jolies histoires. Tracy, je parie que tu savais que le créateur de Polo est francais – Régis Faller.

Thanks to Aunty Tracy, we have a new character in the house. His name is Polo. Adrien loves Polo's adventure and the highlight of last week was when we had shish-kabob for diner just like Polo! Nouveaux Progrès (New Progress)

Quelques progrès font surface. D'abord, Adrien commence à se rendre compte des lignes dans les dessins et maintenant ,quand il colorie, il se concentre beaucoup pour rester dans les lignes. J'emprunte des idées de la méthode Montessori pour faire des jeux à la maison. Une chose qu'il adore c'est de passer différent contenu d'un pot à un autre. Il se débrouille très bien et avec une main! Ensuite j'ai ressorti les Légos et il s'est mis à construire des choses, comme des fusées, des avions: mais ça me dit il "c'est une grue"! Je n'en revenais pas comme c'était réaliste. Ceci dit nous avons toujours un clown dans nos mains qui adore mettre ses bottes en caoutchouc trop grandes qu'une amie lui a données.

A few progresses are happening. First he started being aware of the lines in drawings and is applying himself hard at staying within them. I am borrowing some ideas from the Montessori teaching toys and he loves them. One is to pour from one jar to another different ingredients. I also pulled the legos out again and he is now starting to build lots of stuff, planes, rockets but this one was a suppose to be a crane... I couldn't believe how much it really looked like one! But then we still have our very silly fashion boy who is totally in love with the too big hand me down rubber boots.

Le week end dernier il y avait le Festival des Arts à Salt Lake. Il y a une section réservée aux enfants où on trouve des constructions faites par tous les enfants au fur et à mesure de leurs visites. Adrien a tout de suite sauté sur l'occasion. Le lendemain je l'ai installé devant un grand papier et de la peinture. Sa création a doucement évolué du papier à son corps....

Last week end was the Art Festival in Salt Lake. So we took a stroll. There is a section for children where they have these constructions made of all the kids art. It is constantly changing as it gets build on. Adrien jumped right in. So the next day I set some paint out and a big piece of paper. It slowly evolved from the paper to body art.

Nous avons passé quelques jours à Denver ou je participais à une conférence. Pendant ce temps, Tom et Adrien en ont profité pour voir des amis. Le voyage en avion était une telle source d'excitation pour Adrien! il n'a pas arrêté: Avions, Avions Partout!

We went to Denver for a few days so I could attend a conference while Tom and Adrien catched up with friends. The plane ride was such an excitement for Adrien. Planes planes everywhere!

Nous avons logé chez nos amis Julie, John et Jack. Les 2 garçons se sont amusés comme des fous tous les jours. Entre une visite dans une ferme (avec vaches, poules et marionnettes), entre les glaces délicieuses faites maison, le dessin, le musée d'aviation, l'aquarium, le terrain de jeux et je suis sûre encore bien plus. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour et je veux remercier JJJ pour leur très gentille hospitalité!

We stayed with our friends Julie, John and Jack. The 2 boys had action packed days. Between a farm visit with cows, chicken and puppet theater to yard play, eating the most amazing home made popsicles, drawing, the airplane museum, the aquarium, the playground and I am sure so much more. We had a wonderful time and I want to thank you JJJ for your great hospitality. We can't wait to have you guys over!

The Little Gym

Ce trimestre nous avons essayé The Little Gym. C'était assez sympa. Adrien a appris à faire des galipettes, à marcher sur une poutre, à se pendre à une barre et à grimper. C'est mignon de le voir rentrer la tête pour préparer la galipette et j'étais très impressionnée de voir comme il était sûr de lui sur la poutre. Ce n'était pas très structuré mais c'était bien pour lui de s'amuser dans une salle de gym tout en mousse. Je n'ai pas encore décidé de ce qu'on allait faire cet été. Je pensais peut être à quelques cours de natation.

This semester we tried The Little Gym. It was pretty fun. Adrien learned to do roll overs, walk on beams, hang from a bar, climb ect... It's so cute when he just tucks his head up, and I was pretty impressed how sure he was walking on a thin beam. It wasn't very structured but it was fun to have a whole foam gym to play with. I haven't decided yet what we'll do this summer. I was thinking maybe some swimming.

Club de Foot (Soccer Camp)

Adrien est inscrit dans un petit cours de foot pour lui faire connaître ce sport. C'est organisé pour les tout petits de 2 à 4 ans. Celà va nous aider pour des exercices à faire dans le jardin cet été avec son ballon mais je dois admettre qu'il ne montre pas, pour l'instant, trop de talent pour ce sport.

We had Adrien enrolled in a mini soccer camp just to introduce him to the sports. It is specifically made for 2 to 4 year old. That helps us get some ideas of things to do in the yard this summer with our soccer ball but I have to admit that he wasn't showing a lot of skills at this.

Adrien commence à nous dire des petites phrases assez marrantes et je vais faire attention pour pouvoir les écrire dans un journal. Par exemple, ce week-end, il me dit "Maman, maman, regarde! Regarde là haut! Moi "ou?"... lui "là haut, là haut!"en me montrant le plafond, alors je regarde le plafond et il me dit "un poil!"

Adrien is starting to tell us some funny things and I'm going to try to write them down. For example this week-end he calls me in the living room and says "Mom, mom, look! Look!"... me "where?".. him"Up there, up there!" (showing me the ceiling) so I look up to the ceiling then he says "a hair!"

Surprises du mois de Mai (May surprises)

Ce week end, nous avons eu deux bonnes surprises: l'une était la visite de Aunty Jane et Andrew et l'autre était une tempête de neige qui s'est accumulée à presque 76 centimètres. Alors que faire? eh bien nous avons emmené Aunty Jane et Andrew faire du ski avec nous. Nous nous sommes bien amusés, Adrien adore mettre ses skis et il est très determiné. Il ne veut pas qu'on l'aide. Après le ski, Adrien et son père se sont battus dans la neige en riant beaucoup. Nous sommes ensuite tous rentrés prendre un chocolat chaud et Adrien s'est effondré. Quelles belles surprises pour un premier Mai!

This week end we had 2 good surprises. One was that Aunty Jane and Andrew came to pay us a little visit the other was a great storm that brought over 30 inches of fresh powder. So what did we do? Well we took Aunty Jane and Andrew skiing with us. We had a great time Adrien loves putting his skis on and he is pretty determined. He doesn't want any help but just wants to do it on his own. After skiing he had a good snow ball fight with his dady and lots of laughter and giggles. We all went back in for some hot chocolate and Adrien crashed pretty fast after that. What a great May 1st surprises!

Secours Locaux (Local Help)

Nos secours locaux faisaient une petite exposition près de chez nous samedi. Nous y sommes passés et Adrien a pu monter sur une vraie moto de Shériff, dans une ambulance, un camion de pompiers et toucher à tous les boutons. Ça l'a bien amusé, malheureusement on a raté l'hélicoptère... on remet ça à l'an prochain!

Our local first response were having a little exhibit by our house on Saturday. Adrien was able to sit on a real Sheriff motorcycle, in an ambulance and in a fire truck and just enjoying watching. Unfortunately we missed the helicopter, I guess we'll have to come back next year.

Papi Ben (Grand Pa Ben)

Papi Ben est venu nous rendre visite ce week end et nous en avons profité pour emmener Adrien voir son camion puisque c'est une de ses grandes obsessions. Il est tout à coup devenu timide mais je suis sûre que ça lui a tout de même beaucoup plu. Papi Ben lui a appris à manger ses céréales avec du lait le matin et maintenant il adore. On a fait beaucoup de jardinage ce week end et un arbre entier a été coupé. Adrien nous a bien aidés avec ses ciseaux en plastique.

Grand Ben came to surprise us this week end. We took Adrien to visit the truck as it is a big obsession of his and he suddenly got shy about it and didn't want to climb in. Even so I know he enjoyed it tremendously. Grand Pa Ben taught him to eat milk and cereal in the morning and now that's his latest favorite. There has been a lot of yard work done, actually a whole tree came down and Adrien enjoyed helping with his plastic scissors.

Adrien profite pleinement de tous les cadeaux qu'il a reçus pour son anniversaire. Il n'y en avait plus qu'un à dévoiler et cette semaine le temps s'est enfin réchauffé pour le faire: un bac à sable. Le premier après midi il a passé 3 heures sans interruption dedans. Et dimanche avec tous ses petits amis ça a été un énorme succès. Merci Grand Papa et Grand Maman.

Adrien is enjoying the many gifts he got for his birthday.We had one last one to unveil and it finally warmed up this week to do so: a sand box. The first afternoon he spend 3 straight hours in it, and this Sunday afternoon with all his friends it became an even bigger hit. Merci grand Papa et grand Maman.

Gâté (Spoiled)

Nous avons eu une semaine et un week end bien chargés. Adrien a commencé par fêter son anniversaire à la crèche jeudi (gâteau #1) ou il a été gâté par son institutrice. Tom me disait qu'il chantonnait "Joyeux anniversaire..." sur le chemin du retour dans la voiture. Ensuite nous avons eu un petit diner à la maison (gâteau #2) où il a ouvert son cadeau de la part de maman et papa (il a fallu 3 hommes pour construire un camion Lego!). Vendredi, il m'a aidée à faire le gâteau (#3) pour la fête de samedi. La journée a commencé par une chasse aux oeufs et dans l'après midi tous les amis sont venus lui souhaiter son anniversaire. Nous avions 2 gâteaux, un pour le père et un pour le fils. Adrien a été gâté par la famille, les amis et même ses nannies. Ce petit garçon est un vrai charmeur...

We had a busy week and week end. Thursday Adrien started with a party at day care (cake #1) where he got spoiled by his care takers. Tom said he was humming the birthday song on the way back home. Then we had a little diner at home (cake #2) and opened a gift from mom and dad (it only took 3 guys to put a lego truck together!). Friday evening he helped baked the cake #3 for Saturday's party. We had an easter hunt in the morning and then the party with friends in the afternoon. We actually had 2 cakes, one for the Dad and one for the son. He got spoiled by family, friends and babysitters. This little boy is a charmer for sure.

Adrien commence à se servir de plus en plus de sa petite table. En dehors des diners, il y prend la plupart de ses repas. Parfois son Doudou le rejoint ou il arrange ses ours autour. Il s'y assoit pour lire ou faire des activités. En plus, il a une vue parfaite sur le jardin et la rue... génial quand un camion y passe.

Adrien is slowly growing out of his high chair. Outside of diners he takes his meals at his own little table. He is pretty good at sitting down to eat. Sometimes he sets is up wiht his bears or just sits to read or do activities. On top of that he has a great view on the front garden and street... pretty awesome when a truck drives by.

Cours de Musique (Music Class)

Depuis l'âge de 9 mois Adrien va à un cours de musique qui s'appelle Music Together. C'est un concept génial et c'est incroyable ce qu'il a retenu de ce cours; il adore. Il commence à chanter son alphabet maintenant et, ici et là, des petites chansons du cours. On essaie plein d'instruments différents et à la fin du cours, ils essaient tour à tour l'autoharpe avec le professeur. Mais Adrien est dans une phase de mouvements ou il adore faire des galipettes et sauter : donc la semaine prochaine nous allons essayer un cours de gymnastique à la place :"Little Gym". On verra si cela lui convient mieux pour ce trimestre.

Since Adrien was 9 month I've taken him to a little Music Class called Music Together. It is a great concept and it's amazing to see how much he has taken out of it. He sings his ABC song and the Twinkle Twinkle song and some specific Music Together songs. We get to play a bunch of different instruments and play on the auto harp with a teacher. But Adrien is moving more and more now loving to flip and bounce so next week we are trying a new class at The Little Gym. We'll see if that is more what he needs now.

Evolution du bain (Bath Updates)

Cela fait un moment que je n'ai pas parlé du bain. Maintenant nous jouons aux voitures. On lit l'alphabet, on chante, on fait des bulles et bien d'autres choses. Il y a des jours ou il n'a pas trop envie du bain mais la plupart du temps on a du mal à l'en sortir. Ceci dit, c'est toujours une activité très amusante tous les soirs.

It's been a while since I posted bath photos. We are now playing cars, reading alphabet, making bubbles and so forth. Some days he is not into it and cuts it short and some days you just can't get him out. Anyway it is always a fun thing to look forward to in the evenings.

Adrien commence à aider dans la maison et c'est très mignon à voir. Il a encore des progrès à faire quant au nettoyage de la neige. Ceci dit, il met la table pour grand Papa Doudou. Il sait atteindre la boite de pâte à modeler et la ranger. Mais le travail qu'il prend le plus au sérieux c'est de distribuer les gamelles de nourriture aux chats et de ramasser les bols une fois vides pour les mettre sur le comptoir de la cuisine. N'oublions pas sur la liste, mettre les choses dans la poubelle ainsi que de surveiller quotidiennement ce qu'il y a dans le frigo.

Adrien started helping around the house and it is pretty cute to watch. The shoveling needs improvement, but he is setting the table up for Grand Papa Doudou. He knows how to get to his play dough box and to put it back with some help. But the job he takes the most seriously is distributing the food bowls for Mimi and Boodha and collecting the empty bowls once they are done and put them on the counter. Let's not forget in the list operating the trash can is very serious business as well as doing a daily status of what is in the fridge.

Le week-end dernier nous avons offert des skis à Adrien et l'avons laissé s'amuser dans la neige. Ce week end nous l'avons emmené à Snowbird pour qu'il puisse voir en quoi cela consiste . Nous sommes descendus par une petite piste et comme il avait l'air d'aimer ça , nous l'avons emmené au sommet de la montagne avec le tram et sommes descendus doucement à ski. Il va falloir ajuster un peu son équipement car je crois qu'il a eu froid au menton et garder les gants est une notion étrangère pour lui. Nous faisons tout cela bien sûr très doucement. Une piste lui suffit largement mais nous espèrons qu'il va y prendre goût. Il me disait "tombé" à chaque fois qu'il voyait quelqu'un par terre même si c'était les snowboarders assis.

Last week end we introduced Adrien to his skis and let him have a little feel for them and just have fun in the snow. This week end we step it up a bit and took him to Snowbird so he could see what it is all about. We went down a little run to start then as he seemed to like it we took him up the tram to the very top and skied down the blue run slowly. We do have to adjust some of his gear as we think his little chin got cold and the concept of keeping gloves is not quite there. For sure baby steps one run at a time is plenty but hopefully he will develop a taste for it. He was pointing out everyone that had fallen even the snowboarders waiting sitting in the snow.

La pâte à modeler! Je n'avais aucune idée qu'il connaissait ça avant de le voir en action chez des amis. Alors nous voila tout équipés avec des petits ustensiles et ça l'occupe pendant des heures c'est même difficile de l'arrêter. Il adore modeler, couper, écraser, rouler etc...

Play do! I had no idea he was interested in it until we went to a friends house. So we got our own with some little tools and that keeps him busy for hours it's even hard to get him to stop. He loved just cuting out shapes, rolling it out flatening, squishing and so forth...

Week end chargé (Busy week end)

Nous avions un week end assez chargé et une des choses à faire était le troisième anniversaire d'Isaiah, un petit ami d'Adrien. Nous nous sommes tous retrouvés à "Jumpin' Jack kids", une salle de jeux gonflables. Une fois le concept expliqué, Adrien a adoré et redemandé à descendre le toboggan encore et encore. Après trois heures ainsi, 5 minutes dans la voiture et il a fait la meilleure sieste de l'année!

We had a busy week end planned and one of the fun things was Isaiah's third birthday party. We met at "Jumpin' Jack Kids", an inflatable playground. After Adrien was showed what it was all about he loved it and kept asking for the slide over and over again. After 3 hours of straight fun, 5 minutes in the car and he had the best nap of the year!

Mon premier coiffeur (my first professional hair cut)

On a enfin réalisé que c'était trop difficile d'essayer de couper les cheveux d'Adrien. On a donc décidé de l'emmener en bas de la rue chez "Cookie Cutters". Les enfants ont le choix de s'asseoir dans différents sièges: Adrien a choisi l'avion. Ensuite on a choisi un film, "Thomas the train". La coiffeuse s'est ensuite mise au travail. Elle s'est bien debrouillée car Adrien n'arrêtait pas de se pencher en avant ou de côté, mais elle lui a bien dégagé les oreilles et coupé les longueurs. A la fin, il a fait du toboggan et est sorti de là avec un ballon, un moule à biscuit (cookie cutter) et une sucette. Je crois qu'il en gardera un bon souvenir et y retournera avec plaisir.

We realized it was just too hard to try to give Adrien a good hair cut so we took him down the street to "Cookie Cutters". The kids have the choice to sit in different kind of chairs, Adrien picked the airplane. Then we picked a movie, we decided on "Thomas the train". And then the hair dresser goes at it. She was very good because Adrien kept leaning either in front or sideways but she gave him a good clean cut, cleared the ears and trim where it needed. At the end he got to go down a slide and left with a balloon, a cookie cutter and a lolipop. I think he'll like coming back.

Boudha

La qualité de l'air est assez mauvaise depuis la semaine dernière. Nous attendons avec impatience une tempête pour pousser tout ça. Nous avons donc été un peu coincés à la maison mais Boudha se laisse bien faire et nous trouvons d'autres manières de s'amuser.

The air quality has been pretty bad last week and we are anxiously waiting for a storm to push it all out. So we've all been home bound a bit but Boodha been a good sport about it and we're finding more ways to have fun.

On s'est tellement bien amusé avec Grand Maman et Grand Papa. Nous sommes allés au musée des enfants. Il y avait tellement de choses à faire, à toucher et expérimenter. On a joué dans la neige, on a fait un Barbapapa et de la luge autour du jardin. Et on s'est bien amusé dans la maison et lu beaucoup de livres. Merci pour tout Grand Maman et Grand Papa.

We had so much fun with Grand Maman and Grand Papa. We went to the children museum, there was so much stuff to do, experiment and play with. We played in the snow, made a Barbapapa, sledded around the yard, played in the house and read lots of books. Thank you for all the fun time Grand Maman and Papa.

Enfin j'ai une minute pour mettre le blog à jour. Nous avons été tellement occupés et de plus je n'avais plus d'ordinateur pendant plusieurs jours. Grand Maman et Grand Papa sont bien arrivés et depuis qu'ils sont là, nous les avons mis à contribution. Tout d'abord, nous sommes allés voir le Père Noel mais comme Adrien n'était pas très sûr de vouloir le rencontrer, nous n'avons pas forcé la chose. Après un arrêt au restaurant, nous sommes allés à Liberty Park pour assister à un son et lumière sur la naissance de Jésus. C'était magnifique, entre les chants, les costumes, les chèvres, moutons, âne et chameau ,tout celà au milieu de la ville sous une neige fraiche, c'était irréel.

Nous avons passé une agréable soirée entre amis la veille de Noel et pour le jour même, nous avons dégusté à la maison une repas delicieux avec l'aide d'Adrien. Nous avons été tous très gâtés et espèrons que tout le monde a passé de très bonnes fêtes aussi.

Finally I have a minute to update the blog, we've been so busy on top of my computer being out of service for a few days. Grand Ma and Grand Pa arrived well and have been put to work right away. We went to see Santa but Adrien wasn't really keen on meeting him so we didn't force it. After a stop at a restaurant we went to Liberty Park downtown for a great live nativity scene. There was singing, magnificent costumes, sheeps, goats, a dunkee and even a camel all this in the middle of town right after a snow storm, it was just surreal.

We had a great Christmas Eve diner with friends and for Christmas Day we enjoyed a nice home made meal with Adrien help. We were all showered with gifts and feel very blessed. We hope that everyone else had a wonderful time too.

Le 1er sapin (The first tree)

Comme nous étions en France l'an dernier, je n'avais pas sorti le sapin de noel. Cette année Adrien le voit pour la première fois. Des petits amis sont venus nous aider, on a fait des crèpes et mis de la musique. Il s'est bien amusé à construire l'arbre et mettre les lumières. Par contre les décorations ne l'ont pas trop intéressé. Nous avons aussi mis sa première décoration faite à la crèche.

Because we were in France last year I hadn't pulled the tree out but this year Adrien is seeing it for the first time. Our little friends came by to help the beginning process, we made crèpes and listened to music. Adrien had more fun with building the tree and putting the lights then setting the decorations. We also hang his first ornament made at day care.

Nous avons passé Thanksgiving avec nos voisins les Hennessy: merci de nous avoir invités. Nous avons passé une très agréable soirée. La veille, Adrien nous a bien aidés à préparer le dessert. Il a surtout adoré se servir du batteur et goûter à tout au fur et à mesure pour être sûr que c'était bon.

We had a fun Thanksgiving at our neighbors, thank you Hennessy Clan for having us! The day before Adrien was very helpful with baking the chiffon pie, loving to work the beater and making sure everything tasted right along the way.

Nous avons eu un week end très rempli et productif et juste à temps! Une heure après nous être arretés, il s'est mis à neiger. Comme toujours, Adrien était très intéressé et voulait nous aider à sa manière évidemment. Et ce matin comme c'était beau et drôle de partir à la crèche avec la neige. Dans la voiture , il n'arrêtait pas de dire "wouw", c'était beau la ville sous un manteau de neige fraiche.

We had a busy yard cleaning week end, we were very productives and right on time! An hour after we stopped it started snowing. As always Adrien was interested in helping but it had to be his way or the highway. And what a fun morning off to day care with the first snow on the ground. He kept saying "wow" in the car, it was pretty the whole city under a coat of fresh snow.

Lava Hot Springs, Idaho

Nous sommes bien arrivés à Lava Hot Springs à travers un blizzard hivernal ou nous avons vu un nombre incroyable de voitures sur les bas côtés. Nous y avons retrouvé nos amis, les enfants ont regardé un film mais Adrien n'a pas tenu la route et s'est couché très tôt. Nous l'avons donc amené aux piscines chaudes le matin. Je pense que les minéraux et eaux chaudes ont fait du bien à sa petite toux, il a l'air de reprendre de l'appétit après ces quelques jours raplaplat.

Well we made it to Lava Hot Springs through a winter snow storm where we must have witnessed the most cars off road ever. We met up with our friends, the kids watched a movie but Adrien crashed early so we took him to the hot pools in the morning. I think the minerals and warm waters helped his little cough and he seams to be regaining his appetite after a few days of being under the weather.

J'ai commencé à collectionner ces photos marrantes et aujourd'hui je decide de vous les montrer. Parfois on se demande vraiment ce qui se passe dans sa tête quand il décide de faire certains trucs. J'avoue qu'il y a des jours ou il nous fait bien rire .

I've been collecting these funny behavior pictures and just have to share them today. One wonders sometimes what goes through his mind and how he decides to act in a certain way. But we have some good laughs at home thanks to him.

Je me dit: mon Dieu, ça y est, il sait ouvrir le frigo! Je vais trouver des oeufs et de la nourriture partout. En effet, il s'amusait bien: mais heureusement, ce n'était que des champignons! Il était tout fier de lui jusqu'au moment ou il a compris que je n'étais pas très contente... le bas du frigo a été réorganisé depuis.

The other day Adrien comes in the bathroom while I am under the shower and brings me a yogurt! Oh no I think, "you're hungry?" I ask, he answers "ya" and runs off. I am thinking my god, here we go, he figured out how to open the fridge! I am going to find eggs and food everywhere. And yes, he was having fun playing with food but thanksfully it was only mushroom! He was very proud of himself until he understood I wasn't very happy... the bottom part of fridge has been rearranged since.

Halloween (chapitre 2) et part 2

Nous étions invité à un anniversaire ce weekend ou il y avait encore un chateau gonflé. Adrien commence a comprendre le concept et s'y est amusé pendant un bon moment. Si il voit un jouet avec des roues il n'y a rien a faire il faut qu'il essaie, a moi le scooter!

We were invited to a fun birthday party with another blow up castle this week end. I think he is starting to understand more what it's all about. He actually stayed in there for a while. It doesn't matter what it is if it has wheels he has to try it. Here I go on the scooter!

Halloween

Il y a tellement de choses à faire ici pour les enfants pour Halloween que cette année nous y plongeons tête la première.

Nous avons commencé le week-end avec un petit "trick or treat" à "This is the place". Quand les Mormons sont arrivés dans l' Utah, c'est ici qu'ils ont réalisé que c'était l'endroit choisi. Le petit village est adorable, Adrien et sa petite amie Elena ont caressé des chèvres, des lapins et des moutons. Ils sont montés sur des poneys et ont fait un tour de train. Ils ont fait une poupée en mais, du cidre, se sont fait peindre la figure et ont vu un spectacle de marionnettes.

There are so much stuff going on for the kids for Halloween here that this year we are diving in head first.

We started the week end with a little trick or treat at "This is the place". When the Mormon pioneer came to Utah and got to this spot they knew this was what they had been looking for. The little village is super cute, Adrien and his little girl friend Elena petted goats, rabbits and sheeps, rode on a poney and a train, made a corn doll and cider, got their face painted and saw a puppet show.

L'après midi nous sommes allés à une fête des enfants de notre quartier. Adrien a sauté dans son premier chateau gonflable, et lui et moi avons vu notre premier écrasement de citrouilles par les pompiers. Mais ce qu' Adrien a vraiment préféré c'est la machine a bulles.

That afternoon we went to our neighborhood party. Adrien experienced his first bouncy house, and his and my first smashing of pumpkins by the fire department. But the highlight there was really the bubble machine.

Nous avons terminé le week-end par sculpter des citrouilles avec le petit groupe francais.

We finished the week end by carving pumpkins with the french group here.

Il y a encore pas mal d'activités planifiées pour la semaine prochaine!

L'automne (Fall)

L'automne est officiellement là. Tom a coupé l'herbe pour la dernière fois cette année. Adrien était très intéressé... comment sera l'an prochain?

Fall is officially here and Tom mowed the lawn for the last time this year. Adrien was very interested... what will next year be?

Nous avons eu une grande chance cette semaine d'aller voir un match de l'équipe de Basket Ball De l' Utah, les "Jazz". Je crois qu' Adrien a passé un bon moment. Sans hésiter son moment préféré etait les Pompom girls! Merci Liz et Dave pour cette première.

We had an amazing opportunity to go to the Jazz game this week. I think Adrien had a great time. Hands down his favorite were the dancers! Thank you Liz & Dave for this first.

L'art des briques (The art of the brick)

Samedi nous sommes allés à Park City pour voir une exposition intitulée "L'art de la brique". C'etait incroyable, toutes ces sculptures sont faites en Légo. Le seul problème était d'expliquer à Adrien qu'il ne pouvait pas toucher. C'etait très très frustrant pour lui, pourquoi, pourquoi je ne peux pas toucher!

Saturday we went up to Park City to see this exhibit "The art of the brick". It was amazing all these sculptures are made from Lego pieces. The only problem was to explain to Adrien that he couldn't touch. It was just too much for him, why oh why can't I touch!

Emploi du temps (Curriculum)

Ah j'ai reussi à mettre la main sur le meilleur siège de vélo qui soit, merci Melanie. Quand Adrien l'a vu il savait exactement ce que c'était et ne pouvait meme pas attendre de monter sur le vélo. Donc nous sommes allés au parc.

AH we got our hands on the best bike seat, thanks Melanie. When Adrien saw it he couldn't even wait for it to be mounted on the bike. So we biked up to the park.

Le temps des Couleurs (Time for Colors)

Ce week end a été extraordinaire, le temps, les couleurs et les activités étaient geniales. Nous avons fait une belle promenade en vélo avec notre amie Regina, regardez ces couleurs. J'ai emmené Adrien avec moi Dimanche pour une balade dans les bois mais je n'ai pas pris mon appareil photo. J'espère au week end prochain.

This week end was just amazing, the weather the colors and the activities. We went on a wonderful mountain bike ride with our friend Regina, just looks at those colors. I took Adrien on a hike with another friend on Sunday, but didn't take the camera with me. Hopefully next week end.

Les derniers beaux jours (The Last Sunny Days)

Nous avons eu un des derniers beaux week ends et nous en avons bien profité. Les colibris nous ont quitté pour l'année, on espère qu'ils reviendront nous voir l'an prochain. Une dernière glace et un tour au parc ou Adrien devient un escaladeur fou, ésperons que le ski lui plaise autant!

We had probably one of the last warm week end and took advantage of it. The humming birds left us for the year and we hope they'll come see us next year. Adrien is becoming the crazy climber kid at the park hopefully he'll be into skiing as much as he likes climbing!

Grand Papa

Ca fait deja 2 semaines que Grand Papa est la. Nous avons fait pas mal de choses ballades, visite de la mine de cuivre, ramasser du raisin dans le jardin, piscine et beaucoup de temps a jouer et a lire avec son grand papa.

Grand Papa has been for 2 weeks already. We have done a bunch of things, walk around, visit the coper mine, pick grapes in the yard, swimming and much time playing and reading with grand papa.

Les Vacances 2 (Vacation 2)

L'autre partie de notre semaine de vacances etait a Baltimore ou nous avons rendu visite a la famille de Tom. Adrien c'est bien amuse aussi avec sa petite cousine. Nous en avons profite pour aller au musee des sciences et au musee d'arts visuels. Nous avons vu et experiemente pleins de choses amusantes.

The other part of our week off was visiting family in Baltimore. It was fun to spend some time with them and Adrien little cousin. We also went to the Science museum and the Visual arts museum where we saw a lot of great things and experienced so much.

Nous avons eu la chance de passer quelques jours sur la cote du New Jersey afin qu'Adrien voie la mer pour la premiere fois. Nous avons adore chaque minute. Les amis, les balades en velo, l'eau de la mer et tout le reste. Merci JT & Keith pour ces quelques jours.

We were so fortunate to spend some time on the Jersey shore so Adrien could see the beach for the first time. We loved every minute of it. The friends, the bike rides, the warm water and everything else. Thank you JT & Keith for the great time.

Adrien a enfin compris comment utiliser la paille. Maintenant il adore boire de nos Camelbacks. Il est de plus en plus habile avec la fourchette. Pour la cuillère , ça va prendre un peu plus de temps à manoeuvrer. Et ça fait des mois que les framboises sont son grand favori et il decouvre leur versatilité.

Adrien has finally understood the straw and is now crazy about drinking from our Camelbacks. The fork is getting there, the spoon is a little harder but will be next. Raspberries have been his favorite for months now and he is loving their versatility.
